3 step process to becoming a Licensed Real Estate Salesperson in the State of New York:

1. Complete the 45 hour course requirements with the real estate school of your choice.

To obtain a list of qualifying schools, contact the New York Department of State Licensing division at 518-474-4429 or you may also reach them via the web at: http://www.dos.state.ny.us/LCNS/realest.html. Once you have registered at the school of your choice, you should initiate the 45 hour course for licensed real estate agent.

2. Pass the real estate school examination and achieve your course certificate stating that you completed the 45 hours and passed the class examination.

Note ** Examinations times are limited at the Department of State, New York City exam center at 123 William Street, New York, NY 10038 on the 19th floor. If you are looking to take the exam in New York City, it is best to register a few weeks in advance. All other examination centers will have more times available to complete the examination sooner. We suggest that you book the exam day at or around the same day that you commence your 45 hour course. 3. Pass the NY State Exam and begin your career in real estate.
