Battery Park City
Approximate Boundaries
Northern/Southern Borders: Hudson River
Eastern/Western Borders: West Street-Hudson River Tidal Estuary
Battery Park City was built on land added to the Western shore of downtown Manhattan in the late 1960’s/early 1970’s, in order to accommodate the construction of the Twin Towers and World Financial Center.
This relatively recent neighborhood has an insular and almost suburban feel, perfect for: families, professionals, and individuals desiring to separate much of their “city life” from their home life.
Scores of ”green spaces”, scenic views, access to the marina/waterfront, and lovely tree-lined walkways, make Battery Park City a charming and refreshing place to take up residence.
And even though this slower-paced, both luxury and affordable development is removed from much of the hustle and bustle of downtown Manhattan, it is still just minutes away from the greater Financial District/ South Street Seaport, as well as served by a wide range of public transportation.
