Named after Robert and Mary Lindley Murray, Quakers who settled the region in the Mid-18th century, Murray Hill continues to date to serve as a primarily residential community.
This area, particularly popular with college graduates and young professionals, exudes a refreshing quaintness, especially in comparison to some of this city’s more bustling districts.
Much of the original 18th century architecture is still prevalent throughout Murray hill, and serves as a testament to the neighborhood’s pride and respect for its history.
Though it is perhaps one of Manhattan’s more “gentle” districts, Murray Hill has still kept up with the times: Hosting an assortment of varied dining locales, a substantial offering of night-life destinations, and many charming boutiques/”Mom and Pop” shops.
